Amber Icencour Calderon is a Tennesse-born traditional artist known for her children's book illustration and fantasy paintings
Born in Mountain City, Tennessee, Amber Calderon is a full-time artist. Her earliest memories of discovering the joy of art at her nana's house, where she sat at a small toy easel playing with watercolor paints. She began taking painting commissions in high school while under the tutelage of her friend and mentor, Kay Braswell, a certified Bob Ross instructor.
After graduating in 2012, she received a generous scholarship for winning 2nd place in the Art Institute National Poster Contest. Soon after, she began studying at the Art Institute of Atlanta, where she later graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts.
After she left school, she soon started her freelance art career as Insane Angel Art, where she continues to grow her business as a children's book illustrator, graphic designer, and fantasy artist. She has also expanded her business to Etsy, where she sells her handmade jewelry and much more.
She has illustrated many children's books over the years, working alongside her mom as a mother/daughter writing and illustration team. Their most popular works include titles such as Scarecrows on Main and The Adventures of Jam and Jelly.
Her work extends beyond the canvas into full-scale murals completed in her hometown at the Johnson County Public Library and Ralph Stout Park.
Now happily married and a dog mom, she creates her art in her home studio and releases originals in her online portfolio.
